Four lessons that could save your life and your financial future:
- Safety belts that have been worn during a collision may not work in the next collision. If you are in an automobile accident, no matter how minor, which stresses your safety belts, replace them!
- Never recline your car seat too far back, even if you are a passenger. When seat backs are reclined, safety belts may not work properly because the distance between your body and the shoulder harness may be too great to allow the shoulder harness to engage in time during a collision. Manufacturers can be liable for designing a seat that reclines too far, but we'd rather see you avoid injury in the first place.
- Always use both the lap belt and shoulder harness. If you are only using the shoulder harness, your body can be propelled down and then forward or sideways. If you are not wearing your shoulder harness, your upper body can be propelled forward. Either way, you can be injured.
- This vehicle was found in a junk yard within 3 days of our firm being contacted a year after the collision. The vehicle was within days of being demolished for scrap metal. Without the vehicle, there would have been no case. Retain control of your vehicle. If you or a family member are seriously injured in a collision, contact counsel of your choice as soon as possible.
